Seeking Android users to test a NOAA native app! (OR be a mobile tester)

Tapas plate with the word Closed across.Tapas: Grab your mobile device and join us as we crowdsource test the NOAA CrowdMag App on August 18-29th, 2014.

The NOAA CrowdMag project explores whether digital magnetometers built in modern mobile phones can be used as scientific instruments. The CrowdMag App uses a phone’s internet connection to send magnetic and location data to NOAA’s National Geophysical Data Center (NGDC). NGDC analyzes the magnetic data for research purpose and make the results available to users via native app and web-sites.

For this test you will download the app and not only review it for compatibility but also keep the app on your device for a week to help NOAA test the data collection functionality and check it periodically to see how it affects your device.

No experience is necessary, just you and your Android smartphone. If you are interested, let us know now.

Duration: 2-4 hours

Deadline: Testing should be complete by August 29
