Tag Data.gov’s Tools

Closed tapas taskTapas: Tag only 20 Data.gov Tools using 4 predetermined categories. We’ll provide the spreadsheet and a few instructions. (It’s a very simple AND easy process!).

No tech experience necessary! We just need someone with an eye for detail!

Duration: Up to 1 hour

Deadline: This is an ongoing task.  You can volunteer to do it once, or many times.

Context:  Data.gov is the nation’s one-stop shop for Federal government data. We have access to data from 172 agencies, along with apps and tools, gadgets and widgets.

Over the past four years, this catalog has become a catch-all and we’re not really sure what’s in it. We know we’ve got widgets, gadgets, data extraction tools, and RSS feeds.  And maybe you’ll find something more!

When we’ve got everything listed and categorized, we’ll know better how to catalog them — or if they’re still useful.

Trolling for treasure

Closed tapas taskTapas: Spend an hour or so looking for what agencies are doing as part of the Digital Government Strategy.

Instructions: Browse federal government blogs and agency press releases to find government stories about their digital gov innovations. It could be about releasing an API, a mobile application, their work in opening data, a hackathon or datapalooza, or how their digital work has an impact on their stakeholders. Put the URL for the specific blog entry or press release directly in the comments for this post. Include your name and agency affiliation (so we can acknowledge your contribution). We’ll review and reblog your found treasures.
