Public Service Recognition Week began it’s celebration the first week of May in 1985.  It is time set aside to honor the men and women who serve our nation as federal, state, county and local government employees. Throughout the country, celebrations include proclamations, award ceremonies and special tribute events; and citizens pause to think about the value of public service and say thank you.

The FEB typically hosts the Federal Employee of the Year Awards (FEYA) gala during Public Service Recognition Week, every other year. In 2014, over 300 Bay Area federal employees and teams were nominated for the awards across nine categories, from Administrative Professionals, Law Enforcement, to Trades and Crafts.
